Due to several negative socio-economic factors (poverty, absentee fathers, school dropout, unemployment, fractured families, involvement in crime, drugs, violence, and incarceration (CDVI) young males of color are at a higher-risk of life failure than men in other demographic groups. A contributing factor is the fact that this group receive less support and have access to fewer resources to aid them in achieving success. A reality noted by Dr. Ronald B. Mincy, in the book, Black Males Left Behind.
